About Mavin
Mavin Staub Ambrose
lives and works as a professional artist in
Elmira, New York. She grew up in Short
Hills, New Jersey, attended Elmira College
with a painting major and psychology minor,
and graduated from Syracuse University in
1970 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
Mavin has exhibited
her work in North Carolina, New York City,
Ithaca, Binghamton, Buffalo and has recently
completed a one-woman exhibition at the
Houghton Gallery at the 171 Cedar Arts
Center in Corning, New York. In addition to
dedicating her time to her artwork, Mavin is
also the mother of a wonderful daughter,
Chelsea, and a part time astrologer. She is
a member of the Board of Trustees at the
Arnot Art Museum and is involved in a
variety of community projects.
Coming from a
medical family (her father was an OB/GYN),
Mavin has also spent time studying the
healing arts and is increasingly interested
in the connection between art, intuition,
and therapy. Recently she has been teaching
workshops exploring art and identity and has
also had her artwork published in the
international 2007 WeMoon calendar. Mavin
feels that making art at any level is an
essential tool for self knowledge and
personal growth. |
